In order to properly convey information to the users about a deployments status, especially after a failure, we need to be able to update Environment Inventory statuses from within the component template processes.
Its in the component process where we actually know what has happened to a failed deployment like if its been rolled back or not. The current situation is that a failed deployment will always show up as status "Active" in the inventory but with Inventory compliance set to 0/1. I think this is pretty confusing and it would be better if we could set the status to something like "Rolled back"/"Failed"/"Incomplete" depending on what happened.
The current implementation only lets non-template Application processes update the Environment Inventory statuses while the component process regardless of if its a template or not lets you can update the Resource Inventory statuses. Adding the functionality to the Application template processes might seem like the natural option but I think it would be better to have it in the component process because of the reasons listed above.
