Maintain all the artifacts in embedded jdk that comes with WAS 8.5.5

Per the technote, the Java orb.properties, java.policy, and cacerts files are non-serviceable in WAS v8.5.5 (e.g. they are not updated). The files are serviceable in the Java SDK provided for WAS 9.0 and Liberty.

  • WebSphere Application Server Java non-serviceable files

WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 8.5 includes an embedded Java package, which positions the IBM JDK team to continue managing enhancements and fixes for the Java SP/FP versions. Given this setup, it would be highly beneficial if the IBM JDK team could also include strategic root CA certificates (e.g., Amazon, DigiCert, etc.) within the embedded JDK package—similar to how it's done for the external IBM JDK shipped with WAS 9.0 and Liberty.

Currently, customers like us are required to manage third-party vendor certificates (root, intermediate, and signer certs) manually at the product level. This introduces overhead and risk, especially since we lack direct communication or control over these vendors and their certificate lifecycle changes.

We respectfully request that the IBM JDK product team consider revising the packaging approach for WAS 8.5 to include these strategic certificates. This change would significantly reduce operational burden and improve security posture for customers.
