Fully implement default schema and allow other properties for AS/400 Toolbox for Java driver in Database connection

The IBM data tools from Rational Application Developer is included in Rational Aplication developer for Power Systems Software which is used to develop software on the IBM i platform (formely AS/400). It includes a driver to connect to the IBM i (AS/400 Toolbox for Java).
When creating a connection using that driver, there is an input box for "default schema", however, any value entered here is ignored and has no effect. A PMR was opened and IBM's response was that the default schema entry comes from the underlying Eclipse DTP and support for it comes from the Database vendor and that IBM has decided to not implement it so far and need a RFE to consider it.

Another issue with the driver as implemented is that there is no way to set additional properties that are supported by the Toolbox driver (about 70 properties). For instance, the date format, the naming convention or the database name (so independant ASP can be accessed).

Note: In the PMR discussion, there was a mention that Data Studio also doeas not implement the default schema parameter but does use the value on the connection as the default for a similar field in the script editor. I did not find this feature in the version I could download and thus cannot say if that solution is acceptable. It may be if it issues a set current_schema statement before ruunning the script. But I would need someting similar for the scrapbook.
