Thanks for the explanation. We fully understand the consequence of overriding the drag and drop behavior of Eclipse when dragging elements from the Project explorer on the editor window. A User can still use the old 'double click' to open files.
So indeed dropping the name of the element is far more convenient when working in the UML Development perspective.
Eclipse provides this drag'n'drop feature which basically opens the editor of the dropped element. The normal use of it is to drag'n'drop files to the editor area in order to open the file (i.e. instead of double-clicking the file in the Project Explorer). For RSARTE the command therefore currently only has a meaning if the dropped element is the root of a file (for example a class that is stored in its own fragment file).
You can observe the same behavior in CDT. Expand a C++ file and drag'n'drop an element shown under it, for example a C++ class. The operation is shown as allowed, but nothing happens.
To implement the requested feature, RSARTE would need to override this drag'n'drop behavior of Eclipse so that the name of the dropped element gets inserted near the drop location in the text. This will mean that the current Eclipse feature won't be available anymore. I agree that the proposed behavior probably is more useful than the current one, but I just wanted to make you aware of the consequence if we implement this. Please confirm that this is what you want.
