Add Certficate auto renew function in Liberty

Now Liberty support only self-sign certificate or CA-signed certificate. That can only support replace certificate manually.

In traditional WAS , in chained-certificate , tWAS can renew the certificate automatically.

Can this function add into WebSphere Liberty ?

We have view ACME already, but even Pebble or Boulder are not suitable for production environment. We need a automatically certificate renew mechanism that similar to traditional WebSphere Application Server that can generate root-CA and chained certificate , when the certificate expired , it will renew it with the same setting. In the mean time , that can implement from develop environment to production environment.

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. Liberty already supports automated certificate handling via the ACME/Let’s Encrypt mechanism, which provides automatic certificate issuance and renewal.

This capability is available today, and we recommend using the ACME feature to meet this requirement.
