A project for cloud migration of Oracle Databases has been initiated this year - Oracle Databases migration to Oracle DRCC (Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud). One of the Oracle deployment options is DBCS - Database Cloud Service) where Oracle DB would be migrated from On-premises to Private Cloud like an extended network as mentioned by Oracle team. We request for support in testing this DBCS Oracle deployment option with Urban Code Deploy. It would help us to raise support calls with IBM if it is tested and supported. (reference case: TS016235726)
And we can approve the production Urban Code Deploy Oracle database migration to Cloud DBCS in the corporate setup.
Current Environment :
1. Application - Urban Code Deploy version 7.1.1.0.ifix01.1074021 - On Premises
2. DB - Oracle 19c - UNIX Server - On Premises
3. Urban Code Agents - JMS/WEB mix - WEB version 7.1.1.0.1072561/JMS 6.2.6.0.932486. Deployment Agents in UNIX servers. Import Agents in Windows Server 2016 Standard - On-Premises
Environment details after migration listed below:
1. Application - Urban Code Deploy version 7.1.1.0.ifix01.1074021 - On Premises
2. DB - Oracle 19c - Database Cloud Service (RAC preferred) - Private Cloud
3. Urban Code Agents - JMS/WEB mix - WEB version 7.1.1.0.1072561/JMS 6.2.6.0.932486. Deployment Agents in UNIX servers. Import Agents in Windows Server 2016 Standard - On-Premises
Requirement:
IBM Support for Urban Code Deploy with Oracle Cloud (DBCS) is required. Currently this is not supported as per the call we raised (case: TS016235726))
Schedule:
Sandbox UCD Oracle DB migration to DBCS is planned this month (June 2024) followed by Production UCD Oracle DB migration to DBCS after a month gap. Expectation from IBM is to test this configuration and let us have feedback ASAP.
Benefits:
Urban Code Deploy is currently used for day-to-day Non-Prod deployments (Preproduction, UAT, Release Certificate - RC environments) in two slots and any issues faced in future would have to be escalated to IBM for resolution. And also high priority cases to be resolved urgently. Therefore, request for support in testing this.
Thank you and regards

Our development team came back with a response for you:
We don't explicitly test the requested configuration but we do expect it to work and would provide best endeavours support to the customer.
QA tested usecase result on Devops Deploy 8.0.1 with latest version Oracle database 23.1.1.345.2114:
With Deploy server and agents installed on our local windows machine and the for the database we have used RDS machines in AWS network
Deploy server , agents and the RDS machines as the database all on the AWS network
Deploy server , agents and the database (installed in the local machine) all on the local machine
Using the database containers with the deploy server.
We are opening a discussion topic with the development team to review this request. We will get back to you with results from that meeting.
Kindly advise if there is any update on this. Thank you
