This idea is now delivered in the 8.0.0.1 fixpack release. This fixpack is just released.
We are planning this for the 8.0.0.1 fixpack release in the end of January, 2024 timeframe. We will keep you informed.
After getting confirmation from the team in our meeting on Nov 8, 2023 that our implementation plan is solid, we will come up with the implementation and release plan and update you with that information. Thank you for submitting this idea. We will change status to "In Development" once we have our plans in place.

api should throw some exception if you try to create an auth token without restrictions.

Our development team would like more information around the use case for this Idea request. For example, I.e. is this being driven by some business rule?
There are some concerns around implementing this, in particular: users of the CLI would have to add every cli endpoint that they're going to interact with in the token restriction.
