Fail Fast External Approval Process

In our testing of the External Approval Process we have seen that it waits until the scheduled deployment time to execute the External Approval Process.


We would like to be able to configure it so that the External Approval Process executes immediately upon submission so that if there are any errors with the manually input information, there is an opportunity to fix prior to the schedule deployment time.


Additionally, we may have some use cases in which both the External Approval Process and Manual Approval Process are required. Again, we would like the External Approval Process to run prior to the manual approval to save time by catching any errors with the External Approval prior to requesting a Manual Approval.


Today, the Manual Approval process executes prior to a scheduled deployment. We would like the External Approval Process to execute prior to both the Manual Approval and/or scheduled deployment time.

    We are going to enable a feature to immediately execute the external approval process at the time you schedule the job. This will allow you to catch any errors ahead of time. We will come up with a complete implementation plan and will share with you in the near future. This is currently planned for the 8.1.1 release in March of 2025.

    The development team did say that setting up a "test external approval process" feature is too difficult to implement. We are not planning to implement this.
