IBM SDK v8 support for Apple Mac OS (M1 and M2 processors) to support developing J2EE applications on Apple Mac OS.

There are a lot of different WebSphere Application Server stack-products available for which all need to be running on IBM SDK v8 when using the traditional application server. More and more J2EE developers moving to Apple Mac OS, for which the hardware is running on Apples M1 and M2 processors. However... Currently IBM seems not to support IBM SDK v8 running on Apple M1 or M2 processors, but to develop J2EE applications based on the traditional application server there are a lot of features included in the IBM SDK (related to other SDKs like Oracle), for which an SDK change can not be done at all. The only solution right now is to use any virtual system on Apple Mac to get it working. It would be great, if IBM can offer the IBM SDK for Apple Mac OS in the near future  as well.  Just to provide another potential operating system for developers to develop their Java artifacts.

Thank you for the suggestion. The requirement does have merit, but looking at it with respect to our total backlog of requests we do not see sufficient interest in this enhancement to merit delivery any time in the foreseeable future. Given the unlikelihood that we would deliver this, we are declining the request rather than leaving it in an uncommitted state for an extended period of time. As an alternative, we would like to suggest considering running on Liberty which does support this capability as well as having many other benefits. If you would like to discuss this decision further, please contact Graham Charters <charters@uk.ibm.com>.
