Trigger User Notifications

In Rational Change I would like to have a way of displaying a user notification on a post transition trigger. For a current requirement I had to use ChangeTriggerApi ?transition' method to transition the CR to a different state than what the user had intentionally initiated by selecting a transition link .. for that scenario (or any script / autonomous transition) it would be almost mandatory to inform the user about the performed transition.
Right now there is no way to do so through an API (or any other method) except for a 'stopTransition' method that would accept a text message as input parameter.
