We use Ratiional Asset Manager API to submit the assets and add values to the asset attributes. The asset attributes are categorised as various types and one of then is LINK. To set value for this attribute, we need to include some html coding in the attribute value to able to show this as a link on asset details page. On the other hand, if we are adding the value from web UI, including the HTML coding is not needed.
So, it should be better that the API provide specific methods for this attribute type so that there is no need to add the 'html' coding in the value of an attribute when submitting the asset using API.
Similarly, it can be extended to other asset attributes based on their type.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Application Platform
Product - Asset Manager
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Portfolio, product & project management
Product - Asset Manager
Here is the code that you need to add value to your AssetAttribute
AssetAttribute linkAttribute = asset.getAssetAttribute(properties.getProperty("attribute.deployLink.name"));
inkAttribute.setValues(new String[] { " Deploy asset " }
But this is too much overhead and tricky for the API user to add the html code to form the hyperlink for a link attribute
Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
