The idea will be kept in IBM's ideas repository and may still be voted on. It might be reassessed or reopened for additional feedback in the future. We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us the privilege of partnering with you in developing our products.
These fields were previously editable, but we then got complaints from users that normal CDT features such as code completion etc. are not available when editing there (because these are plain text fields - not full CDT editors). We therefore made them read-only and instead provided a way to open the code editor where full code editing support is available.
I think what is truly asked for here is an improved code editor that can show and edit more than one code snippet at a time. Somethink like the CDT editor for a generated file, where all generated code is hidden, and only the handwritten code snippets are shown.
