Status from Jim Burke indicates this will be part of 8.5.1 CP2.
According to the UML standard there are two possible visualizations of inherited elements (chapter 15.3.12 StateMachine):
Inherited states are drawn with dashed lines or gray-toned lines.
So it makes sense to introduce a preference which allows users to switch to the alternative presentation using dashed lines, which we do not support today.
