WAS + App configuration comparison and extract

Need a script base solution or GUI tool to compare WAS and/or APP configuration as well as extract and import to a new target cell. When migrating between WAS version (v8.5 -> v9.0) we want to have the ability to compare/extract and identify custom configuration that has been done in the source cell (JDBC Resource, JMS, etc, JVM Generic arg). Using the Pre-Post scripts is one way but on large cells it takes too long and it often brings over unwanted or deprecated settings.

The script or GUI tool solution should provide output that can be used to import into a brand new configured cell to facilitate migration to higher version/release much more efficient. One big WAS cell (200+ JVM, 100 different cluster definition) it can take a long time using the traditional PRE-POST scripts.

Even though WASv8.5 and V9.0 are supported up to 2030, third party solutions providers are forcing clients to migrate to new versions of WAS if they want to run the latest/greatest version of the business solution. So version migration is being forced upon clients.

The WebSphere Application Server Configuration Comparison Tool allows you to

    • check for potential inconsistent behavior between application servers in a cluster.

    • check for configuration creep.

    • check for migration of configuration from version to version.

    • check file systems for differences.

You might also find Properties File Based Configuration helpful in comparing configuration. Using properties files to manage system configuration has pointers to the commands used with properties file based configuration.

WASPreUpgrade/WASPostUpgrade are the most comprehensive commands to bring over all configuration during a version to version migration.

Do the other tools described here satisfy this request?
