One-Click Configuration Backup & Restore for Devops deploy tool

What We Need
Add a button in IBM Devops Deploy tool that exports ALL configurations (components, applications, resources, templates, settings, etc.) into one file. Then be able to import that file to restore everything.

Why We Need It

Problem

Solution

Server crash → slow recovery

Restore from backup file

Setup new environment → manual work

Import from existing backup

Accidental deletion → lost config

Restore from backup

No disaster recovery plan

Automated backup option

How It Should Work
Export (One Click):

  1. Go to Admin → Click "Export All Configs"

  2. Choose what to export (Components, Apps, Resources, etc.)

  3. Download backup file (e.g., UCD_Backup.zip)

Import (One Click):

  1. Go to Admin → Click "Import Configs"

  2. Select backup file

  3. Choose: Overwrite or Skip duplicates

  4. Click "Import" → Done

What Should Be Exported

  • Components

  • Applications

  • Configuration

  • Processes

  • Calendar

  • Work item

  • Reports

  • Resources

  • Templates

  • Settings

Our development team met to discuss this idea in our back2design meetings and we are in the shorter term planning to provide an ability to export/import team-based security configurations in a JSON/YAML format in our 8.3 release coming in December 2026. Following this implementation and learnings, we will consider additional configurations as you suggest in the same manner.

In the meantime, please do leverage the standard backup and restore techniques with the DevOps Deploy Server. If it is OK, for a future call I would like to discuss this further with you alongside my counterpart, Martin Lescuyer, so we can discuss this value of this solution in greater detail. Thank you again and for now I am moving to the 'Future consideration' state.

We are creating a discussion topic for this and will share this idea with the development team this week (most likely on Thursday). Thank you again for submitting this and we will be in touch with updates. Moving this to the 'Under review' state.
