RELATED IDEAS

This is regarding exporting/importing entire application from one server (UCD environment) to another. While exporting an application, it would be beneficial to show options (checkboxes/radio buttons), such as Export Properties with secrets, Export Properties without secrets, Exclude Properties, Exclude Teams

Depending on the requirements, user should be able to choose what details need be exported in an application. The above mentioned options can help user to choose/ignore the details while exporting/importing application. Also it would be of great help if the encryption keys can also be exported along with the application so while importing in other server, the keys would get stored which would help to import properties along with secrets.

Regarding teams, if there are 10 teams mapped to an application, it is not necessary to have those same 10 teams created/available on other server. The option to ignore exporting teams will be of great help because we can map teams later after importing application.

    Our development team met to review the idea. Due to security concerns, our team does not want to export encryption keys with the application. We don't think this is worth the effort.

    Further, for the team mappings, they are included in the JSON in a standard way. It should be easy for you remove the mappings prior to an import to another Deploy Server. The development team has architectural concerns about adding a choice box to include or exclude team mappings in the exported JSON. At this time, we don't feel this is a high priority work item for us in relation to other requests that have come in.

    Please do continue to open Ideas and we appreciate your inputs. For now, we will close this Idea as 'Not under consideration'. We can surely meet to discuss this and other ideas as well in a meeting. Thank you...
