Allow to increase the size for an existing Short Text field in ClearQuest from

Currently in ClearQuest ALM Schema, size of the Short Text field cannot be extended after a version is checked in. But there are reasosns where field size needs to be increased due to Business Needs. Truncating the size might cause an issue for all the existing records, but we should be allowed to increase the size but still stay in the maximum limit of 255 characters.

Only option now is to create a new field. But this causes an issue to change all the hooks where the field is used and also to change reports and other tools that are integrated with ClearQuest as well.


Please note, the size to be increased will be within the max size (255) allowed by ClearQuest.

    We note that this RFE was marked as Priority 1. The unsupported capability to manually increase column width/field width may be possible manually outside of Designer. If this is a pressing need, a PMR may be the route to go to work with Support and Development on this. If you are able to address this reasonably through SQL updates, would you still want to have this RFE? Is the goal to have a Designer capability in the future? Or relief for this limitation now? Would like to clarify with you. Thank you.
